Destiny-Simone Ramjohn, 38, said she loves great style. The Kaiser Permanente director of community health for Greater Baltimore also said she loves a good bargain.

“I love that fashion and style can enhance a woman’s confidence. But nothing is sexier than a deal,” said Ramjohn.

The Federal Hill resident proved out both those tenets with the outfit she put together for the Reginald F. Lewis Museum Gala.

Each component also had intention behind it, like the silver booties she sported.

“They were to add a little bit of playfulness. I wanted to communicate that I’m serious on top and fun on the bottom. To add a little funk to the festivities,” she said, with a laugh.

However, that intention only went so far.

“Effortless is a key word,” said Ramjohn.

“There is this Yves St. Laurent quote: ‘What’s important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.’ For me, your beauty and confidence is projected by your inner peace and inner self-worth. I would like to think I spend more time working on my inside than on my outside. [The gala was] a room full of Baltimore’s glitterati and changemakers. Woe be the day that I’m spending more time in front of the mirror than being among the changemakers who are involved in creating a better, brighter, more enriched Baltimore,” she noted.
