Although the Elvis Presley wigs, white jumpsuits and gold sunglasses are always in abundance at the Night of 100 Elvises, Paroma Nandi, 29, chose a different fashion route when honoring the King at the shindig.

“A bunch of my friends were going in Elvis-themed outfits and channeling Elvis in different ways. I thought it would be fun to dress a little closer to my own generation. One of my friends dressed up as [Presley's daughter] Lisa Marie. Michael Jackson was connected [to Elvis] because of his marriage to her. So I went as him, in all black,” said the Butchers Hill resident.

Nandi's husband, Robert Sellke, went as “fat Elvis.” But Nandi, the Paul's Place director of case management, decided to pay tribute to Presley's son-in-law by combining some gold sequined striped joggers she found at Target — giving a nod to the over-embellished military outfits the King of Pop loved — and a black jacket.

“I thought about going a little further and getting something closer to what he would wear. But that's not necessarily my style and I didn't want it to just be a costume,” she said, with a laugh.

WHAT THIS SYRACUSE, N.Y., TRANSPLANT LOVES ABOUT THE CITY: “Baltimore has a really great spirit. It's different. I've been to a lot of other cities. This city has this unique vibrant culture. The minute you get here, you get this welcoming vibe.”
