NORMAN, Okla. — Kyle Kempt passed for 343 yards and three touchdowns, including a 25-yarder to Allen Lazard that put Iowa State ahead with 2:19 left in the fourth quarter and Joel Lanning made plays on offense and defense to lead the Cyclones to a stunning 38-31 upset of No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday.

The loss snapped Oklahoma’s nation-leading 14-game win streak and the Sooners’ 18-game winning streak against the Cyclones that dated to 1990. It was just Iowa State’s second victory against Oklahoma since 1961, and the Cyclones (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) did it without their starting quarterback.

Kempt, a senior, had thrown just two passes in his career before Saturday’s contest. He played because regular starter Jacob Park went on leave for undisclosed personal medical reasons late this week.

Lanning, who switched from quarterback to linebacker in the offseason, played both positions Saturday. According to the Des Moines Register, he’s the first Iowa State player since 1971 to get significant action both ways in a game. He ran for 35 yards, passed for 25 and had eight tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.

Baker Mayfield passed for 306 yards and rushed for 57 the Sooners (4-1, 1-1).

No. 2 Clemson 28, Wake Forest 14: Kelly Bryant threw for 200 yards and a touchdown before leaving with an ankle injury as the host Tigers (6-0, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat the Demon Deacons (4-2, 1-2).

Clemson moved to 6-0 for a third straight season.

There was no immediate word on the severity of Bryant’s injury. He left the game in the third quarter after Travis Etienne's 1-yard touchdown run put Clemson ahead 21-0. Trainers looked at Bryant’s ankle and took him into the sideline medical tent. Bryant tested his legs with a few short jogs once he came out and remained on the sidelines with teammates. Bryant did not re-enter the game as Clemson beat the Demon Deacons for a ninth straight time.

Bryant, smiling, walked in a black, protective boot — complete with an orange Tiger paw logo — around his left ankle. “Got the win so I’m, great,” Bryant said with a smile.

No. 4 Penn State 31, Northwestern 7: Trace McSorley threw for 245 yards and a touchdown, Saquon Barkley ran for two scores in the second half, and the visiting Nittany Lions (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) beat the Wildcats (2-3, 0-2).

McSorley completed 25 of 34 passes. He threw a 10-yard touchdown to backup quarterback Tommy Stevens in the second quarter and added a 5-yard TD run in the fourth.

Barkley scored on a 1-yard leap and 53-yard dash in the third quarter to make it 24-0. The Heisman Trophy candidate finished with 75 yards rushing after being held to minus-1 in the first half.

No. 5 Georgia 45, Vanderbilt 14: Nick Chubb ran for two touchdowns and 138 yards, and the visiting Bulldogs (6-0, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) beat the Commodores (3-3, 0-3).

Georgia continued its best start since 2012 when the Bulldogs reached the SEC championship. The Bulldogs also avenged a 17-16 loss to Vanderbilt last year by beating the Commodores for the 20th time in the past 23 games in this series.

Michigan State 14, No. 7 Michigan 10: Brian Lewerke ran for a touchdown and threw for a score in the first half and Michigan State held on to beat Michigan.

The Wolverines had the ball with a chance to drive for a go-ahead TD, but a heave from the Spartans 37 as time expired hit the turf near the goal line.

The Spartans (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) have beaten Michigan eight times in a 10-year stretch for the first time in a series that dates to 1898.

Michigan (4-1, 1-1) could not overcome many mistakes, including five turnovers and several costly penalties.

No. 8 TCU 31, No. 23 West Virginia 24: Kenny Hill avoided a defender in the backfield and lunged forward through two more for a 3-yard touchdown run with 2:53 left and the host Frogs (5-0, 2-0) beat the Mountaineers (3-2, 1-1) to remain the Big 12’s only undefeated team.

Hill also threw a 45-yard touchdown pass and was on the receiving end of a 48-yard score for the Frogs. His winning TD run came only five plays after an apparent interception was reversed on a replay review.

No. 12 Auburn 44, Mississippi 23: Kerryon Johnson rushed for a career-high 204 yards and three touchdowns and the host Tigers (5-0, 3-0 SEC) beat the Rebels (2-3, 0-2).

Johnson and Auburn continued a recent tear with their third straight lopsided win over a league team. Johnson, who didn’t play in the fourth quarter, has 11 touchdown runs during that hot streak.

No. 13 Miami 24, Florida State 20: Malik Rosier threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Langham with 6 seconds remaining and the visiting Hurricanes (4-0, 2-0 ACC) beat the Seminoles (1-3, 1-2) to end a seven-game losing streak in the series.

Rosier, who came into the game leading the Atlantic Coast Conference in passing efficiency, had a rough start as he completed only four of his first 16 passes. The junior found a rhythm in the second half and finished 19 of 44 for 254 yards and three touchdowns.

No. 14 Southern California 38, Oregon State 10: Sam Darnold threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, Ronald Jones II rushed for one touchdown and the host Trojans (5-1, 3-1 Pac-12) beat the Beavers (1-5, 0-3).

LSU 17, No. 21 Florida 16: Danny Etling threw a short touchdown pass in the second half and the visiting Tigers (4-2, 1-1 SEC) rebounded from a stunning home loss with a victory over the Gators (3-2, 3-1).

LSU moved the ball well early with jet sweeps and then pounded it between the tackles late, doing just enough to upend Florida.

No. 21 Notre Dame 33, North Carolina 10: Josh Adams ran for 118 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown, and the visiting Fighting Irish (5-1) beat the Tar Heels (1-5).

Deon McIntosh added 124 yards rushing and two scores for Notre Dame, which played without starting quarterback Brandon Wimbush due to a right foot injury.
