Middle River’s dining options are expanding with the arrival of two new eateries offering flavors from opposite sides of the globe.

Later this summer, Bajeko Sekuwa and Bubbakoo’s Burritos will open at Greenleigh, a 1,000-acre, mixed-use community in eastern Baltimore County.

“The demand for high-quality fast-casual and quick-service restaurant concepts continues to grow, especially in a mixed-use community such as Greenleigh which experiences a steady influx of organic residents and employees living and working here, as well as in the surrounding neighborhoods,” Bill Holzman, vice president of retail leasing for St. John Properties, said in an email to The Baltimore Sun.

“With no current restaurants specializing in Mexican and Nepali Cuisines, these new additions will be extremely popular among our local audiences and we look forward to their imminent openings,” Holzman said.

Bubbakoo’s Burritos, a fast-casual chain with more than 100 locations in 15 states, including 10 others in Maryland, is set to open July 19, according to its website. The made-to-order Mexican fusion menu boasts burritos, quesadillas, tacos and bowls from the 1,726-square-foot space.

“The dense residential and commercial sections of Greenleigh attracted us to this location,” franchise owner Sukhwinder Sidu said in a statement.

Bajeko Sekuwa, a Nepalese and Indian restaurant with locations in New York, Texas, Colorado, Australia and Dubai, is coming to Maryland for the first time. The menu features classics such as biryani, tandoori chicken and curries, as well as traditional Nepali specialties such as chicken and goat sekuwa – a popular skewered meat dish.

The restaurant has signed a lease for 4,266 square feet at 710 Concourse Drive, the same building as Bubbakoo’s. An official opening date for Bajeko Sekuwa has not been announced, but the owners are targeting a late summer opening, possibly in August, according to spokesperson for the development.

Located off Interstate 95 and MD Route 43, Greenleigh is being developed by Baltimore-based St. John Properties.

Once complete, the community will also include more than 3,300 residential units, including single-family homes, townhomes and luxury apartments, as well as and nearly two million square feet of commercial space. Baltimore County Public School initiated a boundary study to explore altering where future students living in the development would attend school but then placed the project on hold.
