Sharon Healy Challmes, a retired Sinai Hospital nurse, died Nov. 24 of complications from a fall she suffered at her daughter's home. She was pronounced dead at Carroll Hospital Center. She was 69.

Born Sharon Lee Healy in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Marion Edgar Healy, a Maryland Paper Box purchasing agent, and Janet Graham Gardner, a legal secretary.

She was a 1964 graduate of Edmondson High School, where she was a member of the synchronized swimming team. She graduated from the Beebe Hospital School of Nursing in Lewes, Del.

She worked at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor for a year, then returned to Baltimore and served as a nurse at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. She then served 30 years at the Sinai Hospital Coronary Intensive Care Unit and its catheterization lab.

She raised thoroughbred horses in the 1980s on a Westminster farm.

Ms. Challmes was a sailing enthusiast and lived on her 37-foot boat, the Bon Temps, for several years at a Harbor East marina.

A member of the Baltimore Canoe and Kayak Club, she trained in kayaking at the Goucher College pool. She also spent summer weekends kayaking on the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle State Park in western Pennsylvania.

A memorial service will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Clementine's, 5204 Harford Road.

Survivors include a son, Alexander S. Challmes of Baltimore; a daughter, Rebecca C. McGee of Keymar; a brother, John Healy of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Healy of Port Ludlow, Wash., and Patricia Komoroski of Baltimore; and three grandchildren. Her marriage to Joseph Challmes ended in divorce.
