Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, an American restaurant chain, recently opened its first location in Anne Arundel County on Riva Road in Annapolis. It’s across the street from Cava and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

The eatery specializes in American fare: burgers, steaks, pasta, seafood, and more, with a different menu for happy hour. The food is cooked over an open flame visible in the dining room.

According to Eleni Gates, spokeswoman for the chain, construction began on the Annapolis location a year ago and doors opened Wednesday. It has around 100 employees.

The restaurant isn’t serving alcohol yet, as the chain works to secure a liquor license in the coming weeks.

Year-round, the restaurant works with Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a charity that fights childhood cancer. For every lemonade purchased, they donate $1.25 to the organization.

Before the Annapolis location opened, the closest Firebirds could be found in Gaithersburg or Springfield, Virginia. There are nearly 70 locations nationwide

The company’s headquarters is in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to ZoomInfo, a data collector that analyzes business records.
