An Illinois man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Interstate 83 in Baltimore County on Wednesday night.
Christian Ramos, 28, of Aurora, Illinois, has been arrested and charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and other related offenses.
Additionally, Ramos faces a separate firearm charge in Cecil County, and investigators say they believe he might be linked to three additional shootings that occurred Wednesday night on I-83 in Pennsylvania.
Shortly before midnight, Maryland State Police responded to southbound I-83 near Shawan Road after a driver called 911 and stated that his car had been shot at while traveling south, officials reported.
Authorities assessed the victim’s vehicle and found a bullet hole in the passenger side window and a projectile lodged in the front seat, according to the report. No injuries were reported.
After reviewing dashcam footage and conducting interviews, investigators identified Ramos as the suspect.
Officials said Ramos is believed to have been driving a Tag Trans Inc. tractor-trailer during the incident. Investigators located the vehicle and arrested Ramos without incident.
He did not have an attorney listed in online court records Sunday.
While police were searching the tractor-trailer, they recovered a loaded, .45-caliber handgun; several hundred rounds of ammunition; and multiple spent shell casings.
Later on, investigators learned that Pennsylvania State Police are also investigating three shootings that occurred the same night on I-83 in Pennsylvania between 10 p.m. and midnight.
Officials ask that anyone who might have been traveling I-83 through Maryland or Pennsylvania on Wednesday night and has dashcam footage or information related to these shootings to contact the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative at 410-538-1887.
