A new Mexican restaurant, called Palma Mexican, will be opening on Main Street near City Dock in the former home of Mangia Italian Grill, Naptown Scoop reported Tuesday. The eatery is expected to open in May.

Palma Mexican is reportedly owned by the same people who own La Sierra on Riva Road and Pitaya in Severna Park, Jorge and Sophia Landaverde. Attempts to contact the Landaverdes through their restaurants were unsuccessful.

Dun & Bradstreet, a data collector that analyzes business records, estimates Pitaya to have annual sales of around $576,500, while La Sierra is around $659,000.

According to a 2019 interview with a family member, Catalina Landaverde, the restaurants are named differently to give the impression of a family restaurant and not a chain.

All of their restaurants offer Mexican food.

As of Tuesday afternoon, none of the other restaurants have posted on social media about the new downtown location.
