Pam Klink, a 13-year teaching veteran in the culinary program at the Center of Applied Technology South in Edgewater, has been named National Teacher of the Year by Magnet Schools of America.

“Receiving this award from Magnet Schools of America is an incredible honor, but the true recognition belongs to my students,” Klink said in a statement. “Their passion, resilience and curiosity are what inspire me every day. They are the reason I strive to be an educator who teaches with purpose.”

Known simply as “chef”— both a respectful and affectionate title, according to the district — Klink blends her culinary and teaching talents in CAT South’s culinary arts program. The program is certified by the American Culinary Federation. Klink was previously a finalist for Anne Arundel public school teacher of the year. She was surprised with the announcement April 10 during a Magnet Schools of America conference in Nashville.
