Quoth the Raven, “Rock on, baby.”
A new live music venue, Nevermore Hall, is scheduled to open sometime this summer in the same space that was occupied by Rams Head Live!
The new venue in Power Plant Live! is locally owned and operated by the family of David Adams Jr., which runs Baltimore Soundstage, a smaller concert venue on Market Place, the company announced in a news release.
The hall’s name is a nod to Baltimore, its football team (the Ravens), favorite son (horror author Edgar Allan Poe) and the bird that famously croaks, “Nevermore” in Poe’s most famous poem.
The release pays tribute to the venue’s beloved predecessor, which brought such blockbuster acts as Billy Idol, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Beastie Boys to the Inner Harbor. When Rams Head announced last September that it was closing after 20 years, Power Plant’s landlord assured fans that live music would return to the space — a promise that appears fulfilled by Tuesday’s announcement.
“Nevermore Hall is our love letter to the legacy of this space and to Baltimore itself,” venue reps Adams and Mike O’Brien said in the release.
“We’re carrying the torch forward by blending the soul of Rams Head Live! with a fresh vision that puts artists, fans and the community first.”
The new owners said that the facility will feature state-of-the-art production capabilities and upgraded amenities including multiple bars, expanded VIP areas and decor that “blends gothic elegance with modern edge.”
Antony Matteo, Power Plant’s director of operations, predicted that “Nevermore Hall’s opening this summer will set a new standard in live music at Power Plant Live! and Baltimore for decades to come.”
The opening date and inaugural concert lineup will be announced over the next several weeks, the release says. Concert ticket bookings will be handled by Live Nation Entertainment.
