Elian Ahmar

Broadneck, senior

Ahmar won every shot put competition he competed in this winter, concluding his season by reaching the New Balance Indoor Nationals Emerging Elite with a win in the Class 4A state championships. Ahmar looks to continue to roll outdoors and should be a force in the discus as well.

Davon Carroll

Northeast-AA, senior

Carroll won the 3A state championship in the 300- and 55-meter dashes and heads into the outdoor season seeking a repeat in the 200 and a win the 100, as well as success in the 400 and 800 relays.

Jordan Cofield

New Town, senior

Cofield won the Baltimore County and 2A Central Region in the 55 and as the anchor on the 800 relay. He won the 2A indoor state title with a 6.45-second finish in the 55, tied for the fastest in the area with Cameron Vereen of Oakland Mills. Cofield anchored the 800 relay team to a second place finish at the state meet and heads outdoors with a 200 state title defense ahead of him.

DeJuan Ellis

McDonogh, senior

Ellis ran a personal-best 6.51 seconds to win the 55 at the MIAA championships while anchoring the 800 relay team to second and taking third in the 300 with a personal-best 36.18. He looks to avenge a second place finish in the 100 at last year’s outdoor championships while building upon his long jump win, a personal best of 24 feet, 5 ½ inches.

Mason Freeman

Gilman, senior

Freeman cleared a personal-best height of 6 feet, 4 inches to win the MIAA high jump championship and also jumped 22½ feet to win the long jump title. Freeman took fourth in the 55, the same result as last year in the 100 outdoor championships.

Brandon James

New Town, senior

James saved his best for last during the indoor season, setting personal bests in the 300 (35.83 seconds) and the 500 (1:06.07) en route to 2A state championships. He also anchored the 1600 relay team to another state title and ran the opening leg of the second-place 800 relay team.

Kai Muniz

Reservoir, senior

Muniz swept through the Howard County, region and 3A state championships in the 800 and the 1600 indoors, breaking the 2-minute mark in the 800 by running a personal-record 1:59.02. Look for Muniz to run the 800, 1600 and 3200, the latter of which he is the defending Howard County champion.

Aariq Nixon

Milford Mill, senior

Nixon won the Howard County and region indoor titles in the 800, then ran a 1:59.03 to finish second in the 3A state championships. He also ran a 1:05.37 to capture the state indoor title in the 500 after capturing the region crown with a 1:06.65.

Hunter Petrik

Mount Saint Joseph, senior

Petrik ran a 4:22.11, a then-personal best, to win the MIAA 1600 title and ran a 1:59.37 to take third in the 800. Expect him to be a factor in the three major distance events.

Jalen Stanton

Century, junior

Stanton nearly jumped out of the gym at the 2A state championships, clearing 6 feet, 7 inches to capture the high jump crown. He also set new bests for himself in the 55 (6.53, third place) and 55 hurdles (7.89, fourth). He won the Carroll County and 2A West Region championships in all three events and will shoot to win the high and long jump outdoor state titles while helping the Knights defend their 400 relay championship.
