Motorcyclist killed

in I-83 crash Friday

A man died Friday when he was thrown from his motorcycle after losing control on Interstate 83 in northern Baltimore County, Maryland State Police said. Police said the motorcyclist was driving north on I-83 near Belfast Road in Sparks around 2 p.m. when he attempted to change lanes, moving from a grooved lane under construction to another lane that had already been repaved. The 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle struck a 2-inch curb between lanes, causing the motorcyclist to lose control, and he was thrown from the bike, police said. The motorcycle then struck the back of a second vehicle, a 2006 Volvo XC90. Police said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Pennsylvania State Police were working to notify the man’s family. Police did not release his name Saturday.
