Baltimore Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in a hotel near the Johns Hopkins Hospital early Sunday.

Around 1:29 a.m., officers responded to a hotel in the 800 block of North Wolfe Street for the report of gunfire, according to a news release from Baltimore Police.

The Residence Inn Baltimore at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus is on that block.

Once inside, officers located an unresponsive man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the release says.

According to police, medics responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police did not say what might have led to the shooting and ask anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.
