Brett Baskin scored the game-deciding goal with 6:31 left and the visiting Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse team upset No. 14 North Carolina, 11-10, on Saturday.

The Blue Jays (1-2) bounced back from an 18-12 loss to Loyola Maryland on Feb. 16.

Timmy Kelly (Calvert Hall) scored the last goal with 14 seconds left to bring the Tar Heels (3-1) within one goal, but they got no closer. Kyle Marr and Joey Epstein had two goals each for Hopkins.

No. 1 Loyola Maryland 13, No. 19 Rutgers 7: Pat Spencer (Boys’ Latin) had a hat trick in the first 3:26 of play. He finished with five goals and two assists and Jacob Stover (McDonogh) made 18 saves as the visiting Greyhounds (3-0) routed the Scarlet Knights (2-2). Loyola took a 6-2 lead in the first quarter.

UMBC 13, Mount St. Mary’s 10: Ryan Frawley had a hat trick to lead the host Retrievers (1-2) past the Mount (0-3). Tommy Lingner made nine saves for UMBC. Jared McMahon led Mount St. Mary’s with three goals and two assists.

Salisbury 17, Gettysburg 10: Zach Pompea scored a career-high four goals to lead the host Sea Gulls (4-0) past the Bullets (2-1). Salisbury jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first quarter. Corey Gwin had four goals and two assists for the Sea Gulls.

No. 6 Yale 14, No. 2 Penn State 13: TD Ierlan won 25 of 31 faceoffs and Jackson Morrill (McDonogh) had two goals and five assists to lead the host Bulldogs (1-1) past the Nittany Lions (3-1). Penn State scored four of the game's last five goals, including their 13th with 56 seconds left, but Ierlan won the ensuing faceoff and Yale ran the clock out.

No. 5 Duke 17, Penn 7: Joe Robertson had four goals and two assists to lead the host Blue Devils (4-1) in a rout over the Quakers (0-2). Duke used a strong first-half performance, 12-3, to take control.

Richmond 9, No. 8 Notre Dame 8: Ryan Lee scored the eventual game-winner and Ryan Lanchbury had a hat trick to lead the host Spiders (3-1) in an upset victory over the Fighting Irish (1-1). The win marked the third straight overall and 11th straight at home. Connor Morin scored two goals over the final 5:19 for Notre Dame.

No. 9 Denver 15, Utah 6: The host Pioneers (2-1) were led by a trio of three-goal scorers (Drew Erickson, Ellis Geis and Ethan Walker) in a rout over the Utes (1-3) at the Faceoff Classic.

No. 10 Ohio State 16, Bucknell 13: Jack Myers had a game-high seven goals and the host Buckeyes (4-0) weathered a late rally by the Bison (1-3). Bucknell went on a 7-2 run in the fourth quarter.

St. John’s 10, No. 11 High Point 9: Down 9-7 with 13:23 left to play, the visiting Red Storm (2-1) scored three unanswered goals to upset the Panthers (4-1). Brothers Mike and Joe Madsen each had a hat trick for St. John’s.

No. 12 Virginia 12, No. 20 Princeton 11, OT: Ian Laviano scored the game-winner on a feed by Michael Kraus 2:02 into the overtime and the visiting Cavaliers (2-2) beat the Tigers (1-1). Laviano had four goals and Kraus had two goals and two assists.

No. 15 Villanova 10, Hofstra 9, OT: Connor Kirst scored the game-winner with 2:31 left in overtime to lift the host Wildcats (2-1) over the Pride (2-1). Matt Campbell had a game-high six goals for Villanova.

Air Force 11, Cleveland State 8: Jack Flynn and Trey Lervick each had three goals to lead the Falcons (2-1) over the Vikings (1-3) at the Faceoff Classic at Denver. Air Force led 8-4 at the half.
