For his Instagram account and his toilography.com blog, 32-year-old Toronto resident Dan Schaumann has photographed bathrooms all over the world, from Dallas to Malaysia.

Last month, Schaumann visited Baltimore for the first time, and was thoroughly impressed by the facilities he encountered, including Bertha's in Fells Point, The Charmery in Hampden and Remington's Papermoon Diner. He zigged and zagged around the city over the course of 10 hours.

Schaumann said he aims to showcase venues that “put that little bit of extra effort into making their toilets interesting.”

And what was his favorite bathroom in Charm City? Cat's Eye Pub, the Fells Point stalwart.

“I didn't expect it to be so vulgar,” Schaumann said. “There's all these swear words and dirty poetry and stuff all over the walls. ... It was just the type of thing I like to see.”
