Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. likes to dance. Come prom season, he'll have a partner. And she's a Carolina Panthers fan.

Smith sent Aubrey Bridges, 18, a senior at North Gaston High in North Carolina, a video message this month via Dream On 3. The nonprofit foundation helps connect professional sports teams and children with an illness or life-altering condition to create memorable experiences.

“Hey, Aubrey,” Smith, who played for the Carolina Panthers from 2001 to 2013, says in the video. “I want to know: Would you let me take you to the prom?”

Bridges, who is autistic, responds as every Smith fan would, high school age or not: “Yes, Steve. I want to be your prom date.”

Bridges suffers from Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations, which developed in her brain. Her ability to speak is impaired, and she communicates mainly through an iPad and text messaging.

“I am excited because Steve Smith Sr. asked me to prom,” Bridges told the Gaston Gazette. “I am so happy that I danced. Brandon and Elizabeth Lindsey, my friends at Dream on 3, are making my dream come true.”
