Trevon Bluiett had another big game Saturday against Xavier’s crosstown rival, one that ended with more hard feelings.

Bluiett scored 28 points as the 21st-ranked Musketeers (7-1) ran away to an 89-76 victory over No. 11 Cincinnati (7-1).

There were three technical fouls and animosity at the end. Bearcats coach Mick Cronin exchanged words with Xavier senior J.P. Macura and had to be pulled away from the postgame handshake line by an official and an assistant Cincinnati coach.

There was a dust-up in the final minute of the first half, when Macura and Cincinnati’s Trevor Moore got technical fouls. Cronin also received one for yelling something from the bench.

After the postgame handshake, Cronin turned around and went back toward the Xavier bench, yelling. He said Macura directed an obscenity at him during the game and again afterward.

Shockers down Bears: Conner Frankamp scored 17 points and No. 8 Wichita State closed the game on a 7-0 run to beat No. 16 Baylor 69-62 in Waco, Texas, ending the Bears’ 46-game nonconference home winning streak.

The Shockers (6-1) shot 63 percent (10-for-16) from 3-point range, with Frankamp’s 5-for-8 leading the way. Manu Lecomte scored 15 points for Baylor (5-2).

Player in fair condition: South Carolina State’s Tyvoris Solomon was listed in fair condition after he collapsed near the bench during a 103-71 loss at North Carolina State.

Emergency medical personnel administered chest compressions before Solomon was put on a stretcher and sent to the hospital.

SEC pioneer dies: Perry Wallace, who became the SEC’s first black varsity basketball player in 1967 while at Vanderbilt, died Friday after a battle with cancer. He was 69.

Player leaves: Oregon State sophomore JaQuori McLaughlin, who set a freshman school record with 58 3-pointers last season, left the team for personal reasons and will seek to transfer. AP
