Why do veterans and voters trust Republicans?

Regarding the recent article, “Veterans feel ignored this election, advocate says (Oct. 16),” I would just like to ask a few questions, starting with why?

Why is it that so many veterans, 61%, support former President Donald Trump? At every turn, since he has been in or out of office, he has done nothing but disparage those who wear the uniform and have served our country. He has called them losers and suckers, not wanting to be seen with wounded or disfigured veterans, and most recently he disparaged Arlington National Cemetery in the name of a photo op. What makes them still support this man who couldn’t care less about them?

Also, per the article, both veterans and other Americans trust the Republicans more on the economy than Democrats. Why? The last major economic downturn we had was in 2008 — the Great Recession. Republican President George W. Bush was in charge at the time. It took Democratic President Barack Obama to bail us out. And most recently, there was a downturn in 2020 with major implications. And while we are still coming out of that, it was Democratic President Joe Biden, who is bringing us out of that one.

So, again, why is it that Republicans get more credit for things they don’t do than Democrats get for things they do?

Kamala Harris won’t answer a real question

After watching Kamala Harris’ interview with Bret Baier on FOX News, my perspective on her performance showed her modus operandi is not much different with friendly interviews or challenging ones. Like any well-schooled politician, she was consistent in the unwillingness to answer yes-or-no questions and diverting to other peripheral (at best) topics. It seemed she wanted to provide a campaign speech, dominating the amount of time to minimize the number and breadth of questions to be asked.

Kudos to the interviewer in his less-than-successful attempts to elicit substantive answers, which were clearly lacking. While she is usually all smiles in the softball interviews, her demeanor was much different on FOX and seemingly triggered by anger at the questions which she should have anticipated and been prepared for.

Frankly, the only thing I learned from this interview is that she is inflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome and has a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde duality. Maybe that’s a reason for the massive turnover of her personal staff who know the real Harris.

She did mention she has 80 pages of policies on her campaign website. I doubt she will get many hits from her low-information supporters. The old story of you need to read it to find out what you are voting for. Isn’t that what debates and interviews are for?

Trump needs to concede the 2020 election

If Donald Trump cannot answer the question “Were you elected in 2020?” with a definitive and resounding “No,” then he must be precluded from running for president.

The 22nd Amendment states that no person shall be elected to the office of president more than twice. Instead, Trump and his running mate deflect the question by alleging the existence of “problems” in the 2020 election, as if that allegation alone renders the 2020 election a loss for President Joe Biden and a win for Mr. Trump. No one ever inquires as to what the “problems” were, nor does anyone ask Mr. Trump to reconcile the allegation of “problems” with the findings of more than 60 judges — Republicans and Democrats — that the election was not compromised as the Trump campaign claimed.

The choice should be to admit to the loss or to withdraw from — or be removed from — the election. This should have been taken care of the day Mr. Trump declared for the presidency again.

Ravens fan from viral video shouldn’t be allowed back at M&T Bank Stadium

This is in reference to the Ravens fan who attacked a Washington Commanders fan after the game outside M&T Bank Stadium.

The idiot’s team won, and yet he takes out his juvenile behavior on an unsuspecting Commanders fan. Sorry, I just do not get that.

I am also certain the Ravens’ organization is not too pleased since the idiot was wearing a Ravens jersey.

To the Ravens organization, never again allow this pumpkin head to set foot inside M&T Bank Stadium again.
