PICTURING MARYLAND
Commemorating Johns Hopkins
Amy Davis/staff
Visitors to Clifton Mansion pause in the Grand Staircase to hear John Ciekot, special projects director at Civic Works, lower right, relate the history of the estate house purchased by Johns Hopkins in 1841. The tour followed presentations on the legacy of Johns Hopkins on the 150th anniversary of his death. The event, sponsored by Civic Works and the Friends of Clifton Mansion, highlighted the restorations in progress at the Italianate mansion, which was Hopkins’ country home.
