Pet owners from across the region brought their animals for a special blessing Oct. 8 to Calvary Lutheran Church on Old Frederick Road in Mount Airy. The celebration began with all the pets parading to Pastor Eric Deibler for a blessing. Other events included a demonstration by the Howard County Police K9 Unit, a Dachshund Derby and a dog costume contest. Prizes were awarded for funniest, scariest sporty and most creative costumes.
