CLASS 4A EAST

NO. 10 BROADNECK (7-3)

@ NO. 4 OLD MILL (10-0)

When: Tonight, 7

Coaches: Rob Harris, Broadneck;

Chad McCormick, Old Mill

Last meeting: Old Mill won, 34-10, Oct. 21

Outlook: The Patriots finished the regular season undefeated for the second straight year, but they know that's no indication of playoff success. Last year, they beat the Bruins, 38-22, during the regular season and were averaging 47 points per game before Broadneck beat them, 7-0, in the region final. Old Mill is in the playoffs for the 18th straight time and aims for a third state title. The Patriots are the only Baltimore-area Class 4A team to have won the title in the past 21 years. The Bruins, who have never won a state title, are in the playoffs for the fourth straight time.

CLASS 3A NORTH

NO. 11 DUNDALK (8-2)

@ NO. 8 FRANKLIN (8-1)

When: Tonight, 7

Coaches: Sean Sandora, Dundalk;

Anthony Burgos, Franklin

Last meeting: Franklin won, 33-7, last Friday

Outlook: Two of the top teams in Baltimore County face off for a second straight week, with the Owls aiming to turn the tables on the Indians for a second straight season. Franklin won last year's regular-season game, 37-18, but Dundalk came back to win the region final and go on to the state title game for the first time in school history. Before that, the Indians had won two straight Class 3A championships. Last Friday night, Franklin got its initial revenge in a dominant defensive performance, shutting out the Owls until the final minute of the game.

CLASS 3A EAST

WILDE LAKE (7-3) @ GLENELG (8-2)

When: Tonight, 7

Coaches: Mike Harrison, Wilde Lake;

Butch Schaffer, Glenelg

Last meeting: Wilde Lake won, 20-14, Sept. 16

Outlook: The Gladiators will try to avenge their first loss to the Wildecats in six years. Glenelg won six of seven games after that loss, including an upset of Howard, which had won 32 straight Howard County games. After the win over the Gladiators, Wilde Lake allowed just one opponent to score more than two touchdowns. The Wildecats won the last of their six state titles in 2010. Glenelg, which reached the state semifinals two years ago, is aiming for its first state title.

CLASS 2A WEST

MIDDLETOWN (8-2) @ LIBERTY (9-1)

When: Tonight, 7

Coaches: Kevin Lynott, Middletown;

Larry Luthe, Liberty

Last meeting: Middletown won, 14-7, in 2008

Outlook: The Lions won their first outright Carroll County championship since 2000 with last Friday night's 38-0 win over Century. Liberty shared the title in 2001. Now, the Lions are in the playoffs for just the fourth time in school history and the second time in three years. The Knights have a rich playoff history, with 22 trips to the regions and three state titles. Their last title came in 2013 and Middletown hasn't qualified for the playoffs the past two seasons. The teams have played five times in the past 11 years and though three games were decided by a touchdown, Liberty didn't win any.

CLASS 1A SOUTH

FAET (5-4)

VS. REGINALD LEWIS (10-0)

When: Saturday, 4 p.m.

Where: At Poly

Coaches: Dominic Howard, FAET;

Elwood Townsend, Reginald Lewis

Last meeting: Lewis won, 33-12, Sept. 9

Outlook: Lewis finished the first unbeaten regular season in its history and has been the stingiest team in the Baltimore area this fall, allowing just 24 points and shutting out seven opponents. FAET (Friendship Academy of Engineering and Technology) had a bit of insight into Townsend's system, since Howard had been his defensive coordinator at Douglass, where they also turned the program around before taking over these teams this fall. While Lewis' Falcons are seeking their first playoff win in their fourth trip to the region playoffs, FAET's Grizzlies made it to the state semifinals, where they lost, 3-0, to Havre de Grace last year.
