New information is being learned about the violent crime spree a Washington D.C. teen is accused of committing across Baltimore.
Quontay Spinks, 19, has been connected to more than a half dozen violent crimes that occurred in the city in September and October, according to Baltimore Police.
BPD detailed the accused crimes, which include:
The murder of 36-year-old Antonio Peoples in Harbor East on Sept. 14;
The attempted murder and robbery of a man on Light Street near the Inner Harbor Sept. 12;
Three armed carjackings including one on Russell Street near Horseshoe Casino, another on Orleans Street near Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a third case on south Paca street not far from Camden Yards.
Two armed robberies including one on the same block as a downtown Baltimore hotel on Redwood Street, and another case on the 5700 block of Reisterstown Road.
Baltimore Police announced Spinks’ arrest last week. The 19-year-old from Washington D.C. appeared in court the next day on four of the seven cases and was denied bond.
Newly obtained court documents reveal how investigators connected Spinks to some of the crimes.
In the Sept. 12 attempted murder on Light Street and the Sept. 12 armed carjacking on Russell Street, investigators detailed in each charging document Spinks’ fingerprint was recovered from the “driver rear view mirror.”
The charging documents for the armed carjacking on S. Paca Street on Oct. 4th indicated “a receipt with the name Quontay” was recovered from the vehicle used in that crime.
In charging documents for each of those three cases, investigators said Spinks later confessed to his involvement in the crime.
All four cases Spinks appeared in court for indicated he didn’t act alone, including the Harbor East homicide, according to charging documents.
The Harbor East homicide charging documents cited surveillance video, a comparison of ballistic and forensic evidence and cellular data to identify Spinks.
Records show Spinks was 18 years old at the time these crimes were committed.
During his bond hearing last week, it was revealed Spinks is currently enrolled at the Washington D.C. Public School Garnett-Patterson S.T.A.Y.
Records in D.C. show Spinks was arrested about six months after turning 18.
According to Metropolitan Police Department, Spinks was one of five people arrested after being found inside a stolen car back in April 2024.
FOX45 News has questioned what happened after the arrest.
Any criminal history Spinks may have had as a juvenile would be concealed as current Maryland law keeps juvenile cases confidential.
Some lawmakers have been pushing to change that.
Specifically, reintroducing past failed legislation that would have created a searchable database of juvenile offenses without revealing the suspect’s identity.
Baltimore Police have not yet responded when asked if any other arrests have been made in this crime spree.
