The Golden Knights blanked the Avalanche 7-0 on Friday in Las Vegas to extend the best start in history by an NHL expansion team.

The Golden Knights improved to 8-1-0. They have won five straight, matching the longest streak by a team in its inaugural season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. They joined the 1926-27 Rangers and the 1979-80 Oilers.

Oscar Dansk stopped 32 shots in his second career start. James Neal scored his seventh goal, and David Perron, Oscar Lindberg, Cody Eakin, Jonathan Marchessault, Erik Haula and William Carrier also scored.

Semyon Varlamov allowed all seven goals on 21 shots.
