Struggling Ducks fire coach Carlyle
The Ducks fired coach Randy Carlyle on Sunday amid a seven-game losing streak and freefall into last place in the Western Conference.
Carlyle, 62, the winningest coach in Ducks history, was in his second stint with the team. He led the Ducks to the Stanley Cup in 2007 and three appearances in the Western Conference final (2006, 2007, 2017).
The Ducks have lost 19 of their last 21 games. They set a team record with 12 straight defeats last month.
General manager Bob Murray will serve as interim coach the rest of the season.
Dominik Kahun had two goals and an assist, Cam Ward made 43 saves and the Blackhawks beat the visiting Red Wings 5-2 for their seventh straight win. Patrick Kane extended the league’s longest active point streak to 14 games with a goal in the third period. He added a late assist. Alex DeBrincat extended his career-best point streak to eight games with three assists in the win. ... Vladimir Tarasenko completed a hat trick by scoring 16 seconds into OT, and the Blues edged the Predators 5-4 for their sixth straight win. It was the Blues’ second win over the Predators in as many days. AP
