Giants: Jeff Samardzija gave up one run on three hits in eight innings of a 3-1 win over the Padres, the Giants' eighth in a row. Samardzija struck out eight and walked none. Brandon Crawford hit a solo home run.

Mariners: Adam Lind's three-run homer helped beat the Orioles 7-2 as the Mariners improved to an AL-best 15-7 in away games. The Mariners are 6-0-1 in seven road series.

Indians: Carlos Santana hit two two-run homers and Josh Tomlin (6-0) won his sixth straight road decision in a 7-2 victory over the Reds that gave the Indians their first 4-0 sweep of the annual intrastate series. The Indians won their fourth straight.

Cardinals: Matt Carpenter homered and drove in a career-high six runs and Matt Adams added four RBIs in a 13-7 win over the Rockies. Stephen Piscotty had three hits and drove in two for the Cardinals, who have won three of four. Trevor Story hit his 12th home run for the Rockies.

Braves: IF Erick Aybar was pulled from the lineup against the Pirates after getting a chicken bone stuck in his throat. Manager Brian Snitker said Aybar arrived at the park in discomfort and was taken to a hospital to have the bone removed. He is hitting .174.

Yankees: After managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner called out 1B Mark Teixeira, 3B Chase Headley and pitchers Michael Pineda and Luis Severino for their slow starts, at least one player agreed. “I don't blame him,” Teixeira told the New York Daily News. “I've been terrible. I was an All-Star last year. I need to get back to that.” Teixeira was hitting .203 with three homers.

Angels: RHP Tim Lincecum finalized his free-agent deal and will earn about $2 million for the rest of the season, according to MLB.com.

Extra innings: Junior Guerra struck out a career-high 11 as the Brewers beat the Cubs 5-3, taking two of three. ... Troy Tulowitzki's two-out, two-strike RBI single in the 11th helped the Blue Jays stop a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 comeback victory over the Twins.
