Westgate Circle not be bare.

“I would rather it not being ripped down without any thought process going into dollars and cents replacing it,” Moyer said.

“I’d rather it stayed there until they got their plan in place. … It didn’t need to come down until a new piece was awarded.”

Donovan, who is originally from New England, says boat building is in his blood and does some amateur building. He also enjoys painting and printmaking.

Sculpting is something Donovan does when painting and printmaking get redundant.

He wants more cities to integrate arts into the community.

“I think it engages and invites civil discourse,” Donovan said. “We in our cyberized world, it is very important that we reinforce face to face communications and face to face experiences. Unfortunately, the coronavirus is putting a hamper on that right now.

While one piece of art is coming down, Donovan is continuing his own work. He is the director of the Hyattstown Mill arts project. The project has celebrated its 20th anniversary and provides a site for galleries, songwriting and other art.

“It’s been a great pleasure to have (sculpture) here and very proud of the experience,” Donovan said. “I hope they enjoyed it.”
