UM launches new office building in College Park The University of Maryland and Corporate Office Properties Trust launched a $18.5 million, three-story office building and unveiled an art walk Wednesday at the College Park campus. The 75,000-squarefoot office building at 5801 University Research Court will be part of the university’s newly branded Discovery District, a 150-acre area that stretches from Baltimore Avenue to River Road, where university leaders envision a hub for research and economic development. The building is expected to open in 2019. The building is designed for tenants focused on technology and research. At an event Wednesday, university leaders, executives of project developer Corporate Office Properties Trust and elected officials also marked the opening of the Art Walk, a park with food trucks, seating areas, trails and art installations. The Hotel at the Uni- versity of Maryland, a 297-room structure on Baltimore Avenue at Campus Drive, will open this summer.
—Sarah Gantz Legg Mason donates $1 million to Living Classrooms Legg Mason has donated $1 million to underwrite programming and other services at the POWER House, the Perkins Homes community hub operated by Living Classrooms Foundation. The POWER House provides education, workforce development, health and wellness programs, and other community services to residents of Perkins Homes, a large public housing community in East Baltimore. The Baltimore money manager’s donation will support programming there over the next four years. “Living Classrooms, an important partner for Legg Mason for years, has a long track record in creating opportunity for Baltimore youth through deep engagement with the communities it serves and consistent, practical education for its students,” Joseph Sullivan, chairman and CEO of Legg Mason, said in a statement.
—Sarah Gantz Arundel Mills adds Under Armour, Lauren stores Under Armour Factory House and Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store plan to open locations at Arundel Mills mall, the Hanover center announced Wednesday.
The outlet and off-price mall also will renovate its food court and add new restaurants among the 12 eateries. The revitalized food court will be completed this fall. The Under Armour outlet store is slated to open next month and will include apparel and footwear in more than 8,000 square feet. Polo Ralph Lauren will take over more than 11,000 square feet next to the food pavilion and is expected to open Friday. Arundel Mills has more than 200 stores as well as restaurants and entertainment offerings.

The airline industry came out against the proposal in a strongly worded letter that said it would cause a severe downturn in trans-Atlantic air travel and cost travelers more than a billion dollars in lost time.
