GATORS END UCONN’S REIGN: Walter Clayton Jr. and Florida ended UConn’s pursuit of a third straight national championship, with Clayton burying two key 3s in the final three minutes of a scintillating 77-75 West Region victory for the top-seeded Gators in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. Clayton, right, finished the win with 23 points. Florida, one of the favorites for this year’s title, survived a strong challenge from coach Dan Hurley’s Huskies, who came in with modest expectations as a No. 8 seed but led for most of the second half. Florida advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2017.

DUKE CRUISES: Tyrese Proctor made seven 3s and finished with 25 points, helping Duke beat No. 9 seed Baylor 89-66 in the second round on Sunday. Freshman star Cooper Flagg added 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Blue Devils, the East Region’s top seed.

BYU IS BACK: BYU withstood a ferocious charge from Wisconsin’s John Tonje to hold off the Badgers for a 91-89 victory on Saturday night in the East Region that sends the program to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2011. Tonje finished with 37 points, including eight during a desperate comeback down the stretch, but trailing by two, he shot a fadeaway air ball just before the buzzer that allowed the Cougars to escape against the third-seeded Badgers.
