Ceremony Coffee Roasters, an Annapolis-based coffee company, was acquired by FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective in late October.

The acquisition of Ceremony Coffee’s six retail locations in Maryland, its roasting operations and administrative office marks the Kansas City, Missouri-based coffee collective’s first foray outside the Midwest. There, it oversees 11 specialty coffee companies in four states.

“The essence of Ceremony will look and feel the same, the same warm cafés, friendly baristas and exceptional coffee, now backed by an even stronger support system,” Ceremony Coffee founder Vincent Iatesta said in a news release. “As part of the Collective, we’ll begin to see the advantages of our new resources, systems and expertise infused into the quality of our work, spaces and culture.”

Iatesta, who founded Ceremony Coffee Roasters in 2002, will continue to lead the company as it updates systems, continues renovations and expands its capabilities in Annapolis, according to the release.

The coffee company has two locations in Annapolis, three in Baltimore and one in Bethesda.

“The people and passion for specialty coffee is evident throughout the organization, and we’re looking forward to growing together,” said Isaac Hodges, FairWave’s president of growth.
