Mistrial declared in killing of Park Heights father The trial of a man charged with killing a Park Heights father in November 2015 has ended in a mistrial, the city state’s attorney’s office said. Devante Brim was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kendal Fenwick, a 24-year-old truck driver who was raising three children. The case garnered widespread attention after police believed Fenwick was targeted because he was building a fence around his Park Heights home to prevent drug dealers from coming through his yard. During Brim’s trial however, Assistant State's Attorney Patrick Seidel said Fenwick was mistaken for someone else and killed in retaliation for an earlier shooting. Brim faces separate cases of attempted murder and home invasion that Seidel said previously would be tried separately but which are connected.

—Jessica Anderson Postal workers warn of job cuts, service impacts A couple of dozen U.S. Postal Service workers protested what they said was the potential loss of more than 100 local jobs Saturday outside Baltimore’s main post office on Fayette Street. The workers held signs with messages such as “Customers First” and “Save America’s Postal Service” as a steady stream of customers visited the main post office and some drivers honked their horns to show support. Rachel Walthall of Owings Mills, an officer with the American Postal Workers Union who has worked for the Postal Service for 24 years, said management sent internal letters this month to workers to warn them that the agency was looking to cut vacant positions. Such cuts would cause workers to be sent to different locations or be put on different shifts, ultimately affecting wait times and the pace of mail delivery, she said. A spokeswoman for the Postal Service did not respond to requests for comment.

—Sean Welsh and Jessica Anderson Former Bible teacher accused of child sex abuse A former Bible study instructor at an Annapolis church was arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child, Anne Arundel police said Friday.

Police said Erick Ernesto Granados-Zeledon, 39, was arrested without incident at his home in the 1700 block of Oldtown Road in Edgewater on Thursday. A child told investigators he had been sexually abused by Granados-Zeledon, who was a chaperone and Bible study instructor at Iglesia Hispana Emmanuel in Annapolis. The child was 10 at the time of the alleged abuse. Police spokesman Lt.
