Have a recipe guaranteed to empty the cookie jar?

Enter your holiday creation in the annual cookie contest for a chance to see it in The Baltimore Sun.

Here's how it works:

Submit your original holiday cookie recipe at baltimoresun.com/cookies. We're looking for recipes created by our readers, not ones copied from a cookbook or magazine — those won't be considered. Last call for recipes is Nov. 9 at 5 p.m.

Write a short essay (no more than 200 words) on the story behind the recipe. How long have you been using the recipe? Why is it important to you or your family? Any funny stories you can share?

Tell us a little about you. We'll need your contact information to let you know if you're selected as a finalist. We're only accepting entries from readers within a 50-mile radius of The Sun's Calvert Street offices.

Bake your cookies. If you're selected as a finalist, you'll need to bring them to The Sun's offices on Monday, Nov. 14, between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.

(It's OK to designate someone to deliver them for you; the baker need not come in person.)

Up to six winning recipes will be selected based on taste and appearance. Winners will be photographed for an article that will appear online and in the Taste section in early December.

Happy baking!
