The Orioles (88-73) and Blue Jays (87-73) lead for the two wild cards, with the Tigers (86-73) a half-game behind the Jays and the Mariners (86-74) a half-game back of the Tigers. The Blue Jays, Tigers and Mariners played Saturday night.

Giants: Rookie Ty Blach outpitched Clayton Kershaw, and the Giants kept their lead for the second NL playoff spot by blanking the Dodgers 3-0. The Giants stayed one game ahead of the Cardinals. A win Sunday or a Cardinals loss will put the Giants in the playoffs. Blach earned his first big-league victory, pitching eight innings of three-hit ball. He struck out six.

Cardinals: Jedd Gyorko hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth, Matt Holliday keyed a three-run sixth with a pinch RBI single and the Cardinals pushed the NL playoff race to the final day by edging the Pirates 4-3. They trail the Giants by one game for the second wild card. Gyorko became the first Cardinal to hit 30 homers since Carlos Beltran in 2012. Adam Wainwright will start Game No. 162.

Nationals: Rookie Trea Turner hit his 13th home run and Bryce Harper had an RBI single in a 2-1 win over the Marlins. When the Giants beat the Dodgers, the Nats clinched home-field advantage for the NL Division Series against the Dodgers. Tanner Roark (16-10) allowed one run in 52/3 innings. Mark Melancon got the last four outs for his 46th save.

Indians: Terry Francona guided the Red Sox to two World Series championships. But starting Thursday, his Indians will face his former team in the AL Division Series. First the Indians have to play a makeup game Monday in Detroit if it has playoff ramifications. Francona also must worry about his rotation. Corey Kluber left his last start with a tight quad, Carlos Carrasco is out for the season and Danny Salazar is dealing with a strained forearm.
