Players to watch
Andie Aldave
A versatile member of the U.S. silver-medal-winning under-19 team, she played on a defense that allowed just 7.4 goals per game last spring. Aldave, who is committed to Notre Dame, will move back to the midfield, where she can better showcase her skills on both sides of the ball.
Savannah Buchanan
Another Eagle bound for Notre Dame, Buchanan does the big things as well as all the little things that make McDonogh's transition game flow. After spending her sophomore year on defense, she moved back to the midfield, where she will be a leader this spring.
Sami Chenoweth
A game-changer headed to Towson, Chenoweth caused 31 turnovers and took nine charges as the Mavericks finished 19-0 last year and won their second straight state title. The All-Metro first-team defender led a unit that held 14 opponents to five or fewer goals.
Lizzie Colson
One of the area's most versatile midfielders and prolific scorers, the All-Metro first-team selection led the undefeated Mavericks with 83 goals, 27 assists and 71 draw controls. She had six goals and three assists in a 23-11 win over No. 3 Roland Park. Colson has signed with Maryland.
Brindi Griffin
An All-Metro second-team player and veteran of the U.S. under-19 team, Griffin has exceptional offensive instincts. The Eagles' playmaker keeps the offense humming with her ability to find the open player or finish — she had 52 goals and 20 assists last season. She is headed to Maryland.
Shelby Harrison
One of the top two-way players in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference, Harrison led the Saints with 54 goals and seven assists and often marked the opponent's top midfielder. A transition spark, she also controlled 146 draws in 17 games. Harrison has committed to Johns Hopkins.
Anna Hauser
The All-Metro second-team selection will play a key leadership role for new Reds coach Kim McNemar. At 6 feet 1, the Virginia-bound Hauser is a force on the draw, winning 55 last season, and is also a powerful scorer who had 42 goals and nine assists.
Eva Klaus
Key to the Falcons' transition game, the All-Metro first-team player also excelled on the draw, winning 108 her junior season. She won 14 in the 18-15 state final victory over Bel Air. Klaus scored five goals in the title game, bringing her season total to 56. She has signed with Johns Hopkins.
Lexi Souder
Souder missed the final five weeks of last season with a shoulder injury but returned to play during the summer and should be ready to control the tempo for the Mustangs this spring. A solid all-around midfielder with a defensive focus, she is headed to Johns Hopkins.
Hannah Warther
One of the fiercest finishers in the area, Warther scored 55 goals for the Class 3A-2A state champions. She also sparked the Knights' transition game with her ability to win ground balls and dominate the draws. An All-Metro second-team pick, Warther is headed to Maryland.
