The Beltway Series is expanding.
The Orioles and Washington Nationals will face off in an exhibition series at the conclusion of spring training each of the next five years, the clubs announced Friday.
After an upcoming March 24 matchup at Nationals Park, the series will expand to two matchups a year with one contest played in Washington and the other at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
The announcement comes just days after the yearslong dispute between the clubs over Mid-Atlantic Sports Network television rights was resolved.
“The Orioles and Nationals are neighbors, and it is important to both teams that we use it as an opportunity to strengthen connections and share our love of baseball with the full Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas,” Orioles president of business operations Catie Griggs said in a statement.
The 1:05 p.m. exhibition game later this month, the clubs’ first against each other since 2009, will be televised by MASN with play-by-play announcer Bob Carpenter and color commentator Kevin Frandsen in the booth and broadcaster Dan Kolko interviewing players live from the home dugout.
The Nationals also announced that current and former federal government employees are eligible to receive two free tickets to this year’s exhibition game “as a special expression of gratitude for their services.” On Thursday, state officials said for the first time that they expect Maryland to lose about 29,000 jobs under President Donald Trump’s plans to fire federal workers.
The Orioles and Nationals will meet twice during the 2025 regular season, including during MLB’s Rivalry Weekend from May 16-18 in Baltimore and April 22-24 in Washington. The Orioles head to Toronto on March 27 for a four-game series against the Blue Jays to open the season before returning home to host the Boston Red Sox for a three-game set beginning March 31.
