A person died after their mobile home caught fire Saturday evening in Myersville, officials say.

At about 9:12 p.m., the Frederick County Emergency Communications Center received reports of a house fire in the 11000 block of Highland School Road in Myersville, according to a Facebook post from the county Division of Fire and Rescue Services.

When units arrived, they found an extensive fire at a mobile and were told the home might be occupied.

As crews extinguished the fire and searched for occupants, they found an unconscious civilian. They removed the person from the structure and took them to first medical responders for care, according to the Facebook post.

The mobile home’s occupant was pronounced dead on the scene. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office will name the victim after the next of kin is notified, according to the fire and rescue services.

It took 35 firefighters, with aid from Washington County, around 20 minutes to control the fire, the division said. The Frederick County fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire did not harm any other structures but caused about $100,000 worth of property damages.
