Abraham’s 80-yard run sets tone for River Hill
Hawks top Glenelg, 8-0, for 8th straight win in football

No. 12 River Hill beat Glenelg, 20-0, in football on Friday night to improve to 8-0.
Running back Austin Abraham broke off an 80-yard touchdown run on the Hawks second play, and they extended the lead to 14-0 on their next drive, which took 16 plays and went 84 yards. Brendan McKenna capped it with a 14-yard touchdown run.
Abraham caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Luke Champion midway through the fourth quarter to make it 20-0 in front of a home crowd of about 1,200.
River Hill sophomore safety Beau Brade intercepted two passes and the defense held last year’s Howard County Offensive Player of the Year Wande Owens to 67 yards rushing on 25 carries.
It’s the first time River Hill has shutout Glenelg since a 35-0 victory on October 9, 2009.
No. 1 St. Frances 37, No. 8 Mount St. Joseph 22: The Panthers (9-0, 6-0 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference) beat the Gaels (5-4, 2-3) at Utz Field and finished 6-0 in the A Conference for a second straight year, clinching the regular-season title and the top seed in the playoffs.
No. 10 Calvert Hall 35, No. 2 McDonogh 21: The visiting Cardinals (5-4, 2-3 MIAA A Conference) built a 28-21 halftime lead over the Eagles (6-3, 3-2).
Boys’ Latin 20, St. Mary’s 0: Donald Day rushed for 164 yards in the loss for the host Saints (5-4). Ryan Poole hauled in three catches for 53 yards and Timber Berzins led the defense with one sack and one tackle for loss. King Ripley and Cameron Brown also recorded sacks.
Chesapeake-AA 34, Southern 12: Colby McNulty ran for 118 yards and a touchdown and Tony Watkins added 76 yards rushing and two touchdowns to pace a strong ground attack as the Cougars (6-3) beat the Bulldogs (0-9).

CHESAPEAKE SCIENCE POINT 3, NORTH CMIT 2: Connor Parker scored the go-ahead goal with less than six minutes to play for the No. 6 Tigers to top third-seeded North CMIT. Nahuel Albayrak had a goal and an assist and Tyler Martin also scored for Chesapeake-SP. Dylan Splain, normally a midfielder, played goalie and made seven saves. The Tigers will play No. 2 Frederick Douglass in the next round Tuesday.

No. 6 Archbishop Spalding 3, Stone Ridge 0: Margot Lawn had a goal and an assist and Olivia Piccirilli had two goals to lead the host Cavaliers (10-4-1) past Gators (5-4).
