The father of a child who was killed in Rosedale on Christmas Eve has been identified as a suspect in the shooting, according to a Baltimore County Police spokesperson.
The incident took place Tuesday around 6:30 a.m. in the unit block of Breslin Court, which is located in the Ross Ridge Apartment Complex off Rossville Boulevard.
A woman, later identified as the child’s mother, and another juvenile, were injured in what police say was a “domestic-related” shooting.
They are listed in stable condition, police said.
“The suspect is the father of the juveniles, and his name will be released once he has been formally charged,” police spokesperson Anthony Shelton told The Baltimore Sun on Thursday.
The suspect was hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police, and is also listed in stable condition.
The county’s violent crimes unit is investigating the incident
“We recognize that this time of year can be difficult for some people,” Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough said at a news conference.
McCullough recommended people call 988 if they’re experiencing a mental health crisis and call the police if “something is brewing” in a household.
Police have not released additional details.
