A Howard County resident who recently traveled internationally has tested positive for measles, according to the Maryland Department of Health and Howard County health officials.
Health officials are attempting to identify people who might have been exposed, including contacting passengers on specific flights.
Anyone who visited Washington Dulles International Airport at the international arrivals area on March 5 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., or Howard County Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Department on March 7, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., may have been exposed.
Health officials say early symptoms of measles are a fever of more than 101 degrees, runny nose, cough, and red, watery eyes.
Usually, one to four days after the early symptoms, a red rash appears on the face and spreads to the rest of the body.
Officials say this case is not associated with the measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico.
