A Maryland man who was convicted in connection to an armed robbery scheme is back on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Shawne Proctor, 33, is wanted for a parole violation.
A jury in 2019 found Proctor guilty of conspiracy, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Proctor and an accomplice robbed his former friend at gunpoint on June 9, 2018, in southeast Washington, D.C., according to police.
Investigators said Proctor called his former friend and requested marijuana as part of a plan to rob him.
According to investigators, Proctor told the victim and the victim’s friend to meet him in a secluded section of the 800 block of Southern Avenue SE.
Once Proctor got into the victim’s car, investigators said he signaled his accomplice by cellphone.
That accomplice, who had a gun, then got into the car, pistol-whipped the driver, and stole money and marijuana from both men.
Two additional people stood outside armed with guns, investigators said. The men then drove off in the victim’s car.
The robbery victim called 911 and reported Proctor to the police and later identified his accomplice in a photo array, according to local law enforcement.
Proctor was arrested in June 2018, and his accomplice was taken into custody two months later.
A search of both men’s cellphones found text messages setting up similar robberies, according to investigators.
Proctor was found guilty after a monthlong trial.
Judge Marisa Demeo sentenced Proctor to 15 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
His co-defendant was sentenced to 12 years in prison, followed by probation. Proctor’s supervised release began in November 2022.
Authorities say he violated the terms of that release about two years later, prompting a Nov. 20 warrant for his arrest.
According to the Marshals Service, Proctor is a two-time convicted felon and, at the time of this 2018 crime, was already on supervision for an armed robbery in Prince George’s County. He is also prohibited from possessing a firearm. His whereabouts remain unknown.
He is about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds.
Anyone with information about Proctor is asked to contact the Marshals Service at 202-819-5058. Tipsters may also call 1-877-WANTED-2.
