The two teens who were arrested earlier this month in the shooting death of a man in Columbia have been indicted by a Howard County grand jury, according to the county state’s attorney’s office.

Both teens were scheduled for preliminary hearings in Howard County District Court this week, but the hearings have been vacated due to the indictments, the state’s attorney’s office said Tuesday.

On Oct. 15, Howard County police arrested 17-year-old Tracee Octavious Parker with a loaded gun in his backpack at Howard High School and charged him in connection with the shooting of Kendrick McLellan, 26, of Baltimore, who was found dead in a parked car at a Columbia office building.

When he was arrested Parker was under the supervision of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services and wearing an ankle monitor for a previous attempted murder charge in Anne Arundel County.

A second teen, a 14-year-old from Severn who police have not named publicly, was arrested Oct. 16 at his Anne Arundel County high school and also charged in the shooting, according to Howard County police.

Both teens were charged as adults with first-degree murder. The state’s attorney would not confirm specifics about the indictments since both suspects are juveniles.

Both teens are currently slated to appear in court on Nov. 12.
