Enoch Pratt Free Library CEO Carla Hayden has been named one of the “World's 50 Greatest Leaders” by Fortune magazine.
Hayden, 63, is No. 25 on the magazine's third annual list, which includes such notables as singer John Legend, Pope Francis, and IMF managing director Christine Lagarde.
In February, President Barack Obama nominated Hayden to lead the Library of Congress.
If confirmed, Hayden would be the first woman and the first African-American to serve in that position. Hayden has run the Pratt Library system for 23 years.
“Hayden knows plenty about sustaining a library as a relevant and inclusive institution,” the Fortune profile says.
