


Here’s the weekly roundup of state college lacrosse games.
Division I men
No. 1 Maryland 12, No. 18 Virginia 6: The Terps (7-0) opened the game with a 5-0 run and beat the host Cavaliers (3-4) on Saturday to become the third program to secure 900 wins, joining Johns Hopkins and Syracuse.
Five Terps scored multiple goals, including Eric Spanos (2 goals, 1 assist), Elijah Stobaugh (2 goals), Matthew Keegan (2 goals), Bryce Ford (2 goals, 1 assist) and Braden Erksa (2 goals). Logan McNaney made 13 saves. Shea Keethler (nine wins) and Creter (three wins) combined to 12 of 21 on faceoffs.
Virginia responded with four straight goals while keeping the Terps scoreless in the second quarter, but Maryland outscored Virginia 7-2 in the second half to secure the win. This is the sixth time this season that the Terps have held an opponent under 10 goals.
UMBC 10, Vermont 7: Jordan Galloway scored a natural hat trick to help the Retrievers (3-3, 1-0 America East) take an early 5-0 lead in a win over the visiting Catamounts (2-4, 0-1) on Saturday. Galloway added two assists, Nick Gutierrez added four assists and Connor Chick and Xander Maxwell each scored two goals for UMBC, which ended a two-game losing streak.
Towson 19, Delaware 18, OT:Ronan Fitzpatrick scored the game-tying goal with 29 seconds left in regulation and Mikey Weisshaar (Spalding) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the host Tigers (2-5, 1-0 CAA) to a thrilling comeback win over the Blue Hens (3-3, 0-1) on Saturday. Towson trailed 16-13 early in the fourth quarter before taking the lead and fell behind 18-17 with 43 seconds left before Fitzpatrick scored. Fitzpatrick and Weisshaar each scored six goals on a combined 29 shots and Luke Downs (Calvert Hall) made 15 saves for Towson.
Boston University 13, Loyola Maryland 7:The host Terriers (6-1, 2-1 Patriot League) used a 7-0 run between the second and third quarters to turn a 3-1 advantage into a 10-1 lead to beat the Greyhounds (0-7, 0-2) on Saturday. Kenan Everhart scored two goals and Brady Quinn had a goal and an assist for Loyola.
Manhattan 13, Mount St. Mary’s 11:The host Jaspers (4-3, 2-0 MAAC) scored four straight goals to turn an 8-7 deficit into an 11-8 lead and held off the Mountaineers (2-6, 0-2) on Saturday. Carter Quested had five goals and an assist and Brody Atkinson tallied two goal and two assists to lead Mount St. Mary’s.
Syracuse 13, Johns Hopkins 10: Charlie Iler completed his hat trick to tie the score at 10 with less than seven minutes left to play for the Blue Jays (5-2), but the host Orange (5-2) answered with a 3-0 run to win last Sunday. Owen Hiltz had a goal and an assist during the run and finished with a game-high four goals for Hopkins.

Division I women
No. 24 Navy 19, Colgate 9: Emily Messinese and Alyssa Chung each scored five goals to lead the host Mids (6-3, 1-0 Patriot League) over the Raiders (3-5, 0-2) on Saturday. Emma Kennedy and Mikayla Williams each scored two goals and Ava Yovino chipped in three assists for Navy, which ended a two-game losing streak.
No. 15 Loyola Maryland 16, Army 6:Chase Boyle and Elisa Faklaris each scored four goals to lead the host Greyhounds (5-4, 2-0 Patriot League) to a bounce-back win over the Black Knights (5-2, 1-1) on Saturday. Georgia Latch finished with three goals and three assists and Emma Talago added two goals and two assists for Loyola.
UMBC 17, Bryant 9: The host Retrievers (8-1, 1-0 America East) went on a 7-0 run in the second half to surge past the Bulldogs (5-4, 0-1) on Friday. Grace Bruce (Century) scored three of her game-high five goals during the run. Other standouts for UMBC included Libby Staples (4 goals, 2 assists), Katana Nelson (4 goals) and Emily Knapp (Maryvale; 2 goals).
No. 5 Maryland 19, Penn State 11: The Terps (5-1, 1-0 Big 10) used two runs, 6-0 and 7-0, to surge past the Nittany Lions (2-6, 0-1) on Thursday. The Terps were led by Jordyn Lipkin (4 goals, 1 assist), Kori Edmondson (McDonogh; 3 goals, 2 assists), Shelby Sullivan (C. Milton Wright; 3 goals) and Maisy Clevenger (Marriotts Ridge; 2 goals, 2 assists). JJ Suriano (Bryn Mawr) made 11 saves for Maryland.
No. 10 Florida 14, No. 24 Navy 13: The host Gators (4-2) erased a two-goal deficit with a 3-0 run late in the game to beat the Mids (5-2) on Wednesday. Frannie Hahn (St. Paul’s) assisted on all three goals and finished with a game-high eight assists. Navy was led by Alyssa Chung (Severna Park) with a game-high four goals and Mikayla Williams with three.
No. 18 Penn 12, No. 15 Loyola Maryland 10: Anna Brandt (Hereford) scored a game-high five goals and the Quakers (4-2) upset the host Greyhounds on Wednesday. The loss halted the Greyhounds’ 22-game home winning streak that dated to the 2023 season. Lauren Spence made 10 saves, and Georgia Latch scored two of her three goals during a 3-0 rally by Loyola in the fourth quarter.
No. 7 Johns Hopkins 14, No. 6 Syracuse 13, OT: MK Lescault scored the game-winner with 4:50 left in overtime to lift the Blue Jays (5-2) over the Orange (4-4) on Monday. Emma Muchnick scored the tying goal for Syracuse with 12 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Johns Hopkins was led by Ava Angello (6 goals) and Ashley Mackin (4 goals).
Mount St. Mary’s 9, Old Dominion 8:Camille Thomas made 10 saves and the host Mount (4-3) held off a late rally by the Monarchs (6-3) to win last Sunday. Anna Salerno (Patterson Mill) scored her second goal to give Mount St. Mary’s a 9-5 lead before Old Dominion went on a 3-0 run over the final 13 minutes.
UMBC 13, Furman 11: Katana Nelson scored a career-high six goals to lead the host Retrievers (7-1) over the Paladins (5-1) last Sunday. Freshmen Tess Curtis (Garrison Forest) scored the go-ahead to break a 10-10 tie and Nelson scored the next two goals during the 3-0 run late in the game.
