SARASOTA, FLA. – Longtime Orioles radio voice Joe Angel announced his retirement on Twitter on Thursday night, having spent 19 seasons on the Orioles Radio Network.

The 71-year-old Angel, a veteran of over four decades of major league baseball coverage, becomes the second departure from the radio booth in the past three years after fellow longtime radio broadcaster Fred Manfra retired in 2017.

“You may have heard..after 42 years..the game has ended. I wind up “IN THE WINNN COLUMN,” Angel tweeted. “Thank you Baltimore for the privilege, memories and Lovely Totals. I will miss you. I am now retired...and an #orioles fan forever. Hoping my greatest Oriole memory is yet to come. Luv u all.”

In his career, Angel worked in the broadcast booth calling games for the San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees and Florida Marlins. He also spent a two-year stint partnering with former Orioles play-by-play teammate Jon Miller for ESPN.
