Jeremy Roenick is going into the Hockey Hall of Fame, ending the wait for the American forward who had been eligible for more than a decade.

Roenick is part of the seven-member class of 2024 that was announced Tuesday. It’s the first class to include two women’s players since 2010. And it’s the first class with two U.S. women’s players in the hall’s history: Natalie Darwitz and Krissy Wendell-Pohl.

Two-time Stanley Cup-winning winger Pavel Datsyuk and defenseman Shea Weber were elected in their first year of eligibility. Longtime executives Colin Campbell and David Poile were chosen in the builder category.

Roenick’s 1,216 points with the Blackhawks, Coyotes, Flyers, Kings and Sharks are the fourth most of any U.S.-born player. He’s been eligible since 2012.

The 54-year-old never won the Stanley Cup nor an individual award, but had 513 goals. He also won Olympic silver in 2002.

Datsyuk, 45, was a star for the Red Wings, winning the Stanley Cup twice. He won the Selke Trophy as the league’s top defensive forward three times and a five-time Olympian, winning gold with Russia in 2018.

Weber, 38, played for the Predators and Canadiens during his 16-year career. He won Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and ’14.
