


Loyola women upset No. 9 Virginia, 7-6; Penn State women defeat JMU in OT
Maddy Blakeman had a hat trick and host Loyola Maryland upset No.?9 Virginia, 7-6, in women's lacrosse Wednesday.
The Greyhounds (2-4) built a 4-1 halftime lead and withstood a 3-0 run by the Cavaliers (4-3) over a 3:17 span late in the second half.
Cami Whitford (Severn) gave Loyola a 7-3 lead with 7:59 left in the game, but Virginia outscored Loyola 5-3 in the second half.
The win by Loyola marked the seventh straight year that Virginia has lost the series.
Carolyn Jamison (Westminster) had four goals for UMBC.
Sammie Knapp (Loch Raven) tied the score at 8 with 10:53 left for Mount St.?Mary's.

Whitehurst's second goal in the second half gave the Hoyas a 10-5 lead with 16:45 left.
