U.S. President-elect Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping ahead of Inauguration Day on Monday.

Trump posted about the phone call on his social media platform, TruthSocial, noting their discussion was a “good” one.

“The call was a very good one for both China and the U.S.A.,” Trump’s announcement read.

The incoming president shared that he expects to “solve many problems” together with Xi. Specifics about the topics they talked about were not provided, but Trump said TikTok, fentanyl, balancing trade and other subjects were discussed.

“President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the World more peaceful and safe,” Trump wrote.

In a statement, China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Xi and Trump spoke on the phone Friday.

The U.S.-China relationship is expected to be one of the main focuses of Trump’s second term, with tensions between the two superpowers looming in areas of trade, technology and the self-ruled island of Taiwan, among other things.

Trump has threatened tariffs of 60% on Chinese imports into the U.S.

But he has also in the past praised his relationship with Xi and has suggested China could help mediate international crises such as the war in Ukraine.

Xi will not attend Trump’s inauguration.

China will be represented at the event by Vice President Han Zheng.

Trump said in December on “Meet the Press” he had been communicating with Xi since he won the election. Trump said he has “a very good relationship” with China’s leader.

He said they did had not discussed Taiwan but discussed other issues.
