Pork rinds topped with bacon, local dumplings and all things smothered in crab dip are just a few highlights of the new dishes baseball fans can taste at Camden Yards during the Orioles’ 2017 season.

With Opening Day set for Monday, the Orioles unveiled their new food offerings Friday. Delaware North, which operates the food and beverage services at the ballpark, focused on adding more healthful options — evident in a new stand serving “all-natural” hot dogs, burgers and desserts — and portable foods to the menu this year.

And, of course, local flavors continue to dominate the menu. Several of the new dishes are topped with crab dip.

“Here in Baltimore, Maryland, we can’t get away from Old Bay, crab meat,” said Nicholas Argo, Delaware North executive sous chef.

Among the new offerings is a chicken tender Chesapeake: fried chicken tenders topped with crab dip on a potato roll, available at Bud and Burgers’ Eutaw Street location.

The Chipper on the third-base side of the main concourse will also offer crab dip as a topping. This year, the stand will serve pork rinds in addition to its house-made kettle chips as a base for toppings. Varieties include the bacon pork rind chipper, topped with cheese sauce, diced bacon, shredded cheddar, sour cream and scallions; the pulled pork rind chipper, topped with cheese sauce, pulled pork, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and jalapenos; and the crab meat pork rind chipper, topped with cheese sauce, crab meat, Old Bay and scallions.

Argo said he expects the ballpark’s new “twisters” — hand-held, twisted bread cones stuffed with various fillings — to be strong sellers this year. Club Grille on the first base side of the park’s club level will serve a mac and cheese twister topped with a choice of crab, buffalo chicken or pulled pork. And all Pizza Boli’s locations will offer a meatball twister: meatballs with marinara and Parmesan in a bread cone.

Other new offerings include a burnt-ends barbecue hot dog with brisket, pickled onions and pickled coleslaw on a potato roll from Esskay Gourmet Hot Dogs on Eutaw Street. And all Baseline Burgers locations will serve sauced chicken tenders topped with a choice of buffalo, sweet Thai chili or garlic Parmesan sauce.

TAKO Asian Bistro in the main concourse near third base will add a local menu item to the mix with chicken mushroom, beef and vegetable dumplings from Mount Vernon’s Pinch Dumplings.

“At the end of the day, ballpark fare has always been the leader ... hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, soft-serve ice cream, sausages. So we tend to really focus on making sure that those are readily available,” said Michael Geczi, general manager of Delaware North’s food service. “We’re trying to incorporate a little bit of everything for everyone.”

In addition to new menu offerings at existing stands, the club has added the Eutaw Street All Natural Grille near Gate A. The stand will serve “minimally processed” foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and beefsteak tomato sandwiches with no artificial flavors, hormones or antibiotics. The All Natural Grille will also offer desserts, including several kinds of cookie and a chewy marshmallow bar.

The Orioles were still finalizing the ballpark’s beer lineup as of Friday afternoon, but a spokeswoman for the team said the offerings will remain consistent with last year’s, with the possibility of a few additions.

Prices for the new menu additions were also still being finalized.
