a new building complete by 2021, a date that has been pushed back to 2022, Kamen said.

Talbott Springs has been renovated twice, in 2000 and 2008.

School system spokesman Brian Bassett said in an email that the system has “shown a good-faith effort” to advance plans for a replacement school, working with county government.

Kittleman wrote a letter asking the state to reconsider its decision and provide its share of funds for a new building.

Kittleman’s current budget allocates $2.6 million to start renovation-addition work, though a spokesman for the county said officials remain “optimistic” the state will help fund a new school. jnocerra@baltsun.com
