Parkville man accused

of shooting in dispute

A Parkville man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man who was trying to break up a domestic incident Sunday afternoon, Baltimore County Police announced Monday. James Thomas Blue, 59, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and using a firearm in a felony, police said. Police responded to Blue’s home in the 100 block of Walnut Avenue at 3:47 p.m. Sunday. A woman had arrived at Blue’s home to collect her property, police said. The two were involved in a physical altercation when an unidentified man tried to intercede, police said. Blue allegedly shot the man in the lower body. Blue was disarmed by other people inside the home, who held him until officers arrived, police spokeswoman Jennifer Peach said. The man who was shot and Blue were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The man who was shot is expected to survive, police said.

Edgewater man arrested trying to claim drugs

Staff at the Governor Calvert House stumbled across a peculiar package Friday, shipped there but addressed to neither an employee or guest. They got a call from a man using a blocked number who said he needed to come pick it up. A manager called police. Going by the alias Greg Harris, the man showed up Friday night, court papers state. Annapolis narcotics detectives had performed a K-9 scan, obtained a search warrant and revealed the contents of the box, 14 pounds of marijuana and approximately 1,000 grams of THC. When Michael Clayton Kenney of Edgewater arrived, two police officers arrested him. The 24-year-old has been charged with importing marijuana into Maryland, possession with intent to distribute drugs and possession of marijuana, court records state. Kenney was released from custody Saturday after a $5,000 bond was posted for him, online court records show.

Man charged with

violating crowd limit

A Charles County man has been charged with two counts of violating the emergency order limiting crowd size during the coronavirus outbreak as authorities say he organized two events of more than 10 people in the past week. Shawn Marshall Myers, 41, of Hughesville was charged Saturday after the Charles County Sheriff’s Office was called out to a report of a large gathering at 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 15000 block of Lukes Lane in Hughesville. Myers is the first person in the state to be arrested for violating Gov. Larry Hogan’s emergency order forbidding mass gatherings, according to the governor’s spokesman Mike Ricci. Officers saw Myers, the homeowner, among 60 people at a bonfire on the property, the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release.

Lineboro man accused

of threats and arson

A Lineboro man was arrested Friday by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and is being held in the Carroll County Detention Center on a charge of making terroristic threats. He also faces arson charges for two blazes just across the Pennsylvania line. David Sterner, 64, is being held without bail, according to electronic court records. When released from Carroll County, he will be extradited to York County, Pennsylvania, to face charges there. Sterner is facing charges of arson, risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person, according to a news release from the Northern York County Regional Police Department. Early Friday, police responded to two barns on fire on Lineboro Road in Manheim Township, Pennsylvania, approximately 200 yards from the Carroll County line. The investigation identified Sterner, with no fixed address, as a suspect and an arrest warrant was obtained, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The investigation revealed Sterner had traveled to a residence in the 3400 block of Tracey’s Mill Road, where additional threats of arson were made.
