Aside from all the other things to look forward to during the summer months around Anne Arundel — boating, crabs, tomatoes, corn and getaways — there are community concerts overflowing with local talent, and most of them are free.
But first, there are two indoor concerts of note happening this week:
Bob Marley’s “One Love,” “Buffalo Soldier,” “Get Up, Stand Up,” and many other hits will be performed at 7 p.m. Monday, when the Annapolis Musicians Fund For Musicians presents “In The Vane Of … Bob Marley,” featuring Annapolis artists playing tributes and Marley-inspired originals.
The lineup includes Bumpin’ Uglies, Bryan Ewald, Joey Harkum, Michael K, Tim Atkinson, Hall Williams, Loose Ties, Ginger Cats, 8 Ohms, Shaw Owens Band and an All-Star Jam Finale.
Proceeds support the Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians Inc., which was created to provide temporary financial relief to professional Annapolis musicians who cannot work due to illness, injury or other causes. In addition, AMFM provides scholarships for young Annapolis musicians.
The show goes on at Rams Head On Stage, 33 West St., Annapolis. Tickets are $30. Call 410-268-4545 or visit ramsheadonstage.com.
Then, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, helmed by Jimi Haha, holds the Jimmie’s Chicken Shack 25th Anniversary Show, 9 p.m. June 8 at Rams Head On Stage, 33 West St., Annapolis. Call 410-268-4545 or visit ramsheadonstage.com.
The group is an Annapolis-based American alternative rock band which emerged through MTV as one of the first post-grunge bands of the early 1990s. Members include Haha, Island Styles, Christian Valiente and Jerome Maffeo.
